Garry Ritter, former managing director of LLL-Canada, went to be with his Lord Thursday, July 16, 2009 at the age of 78 years. An active layman in Historic St. Peter’s in Edmonton, Garry helped found The Rock Inner City Lutheran Society which operates a feeding and social ministry programs for downtown families and homeless persons. Rev. Vic Esperanza officiated at a memorial service, Thursday, July 23.

Rev. Clifton Monk, the first executive secretary of Canadian Lutheran World Relief, was called home on July 18, 2009. He headed CLWR for 15 years and was responsible initially for material aid to post-war Europe and refugee settlement in Canada and later for refugee aid to the developing world.

Norman Krasko was called home July 20, 2009 at age 80 years. A member of Good Shepherd in Regina, Norm served on the founding Board of Managers for LCC’s Worker Benefit Plans. A celebration of Norman’s life was held at Good Shepherd, Thursday, July 23, 2009 with Pastor Bryan Rosnau officiating.

Carol (White) Martin, who served as both staff and volunteer with Lutheran Bible Translators of Canada, joined her Saviour in eternity on Wednesday, July 29, 2009. She began working in the LBTC office shortly after it’s relocation to Kitchener in 1982—first as a volunteer and then as a part-time development officer. From 1991 to 1998, Carol was appointed managing director and was elected to the board in 2008. She subsequently resigned from the board to accept overseas postings in Cameroon.
