WINNIPEG – Canadian Lutheran World Relief (CLWR) is hiring a full-time Executive Assistant to serve in their Winnipeg office.
The individual will be responsible for senior administrative support to the Executive Director (primary), the Board of Directors, the Finance & Administration Director and other staff, and coordination of administrative services for the organization.

REGINA – The Malabar Mission Society (MMS) celebrated its 25th anniversary April 10 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Regina, in connection with the society’s board meeting and annual general meeting. Some 45 people gathered for a delicious East Indian dinner catered by Flavours of India, a local restaurant.

SASKATCHEWAN – The largest evacuation in Saskatchewan’s history has Lutherans calling for prayer in Northern Saskatchewan. The area is facing a particularly devastating forest fire season, with 54 communities under a full or partial evacuation at this time; more than 13,000 people are currently displaced, with a significant number of these from towns and reserves in the La Ronge area. Many of these have being cared for the Red Cross in shelters in Saskatoon, Regina, and Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, as well as in Cold Lake, Alberta.

CANADA – Rev. Rudy Pastucha (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) has been appointed to serve as Third Vice-President of Lutheran Church-Canada (LCC) by action of the Synod’s Board of Directors (BOD).
In late May, his predecessor, Rev. Mark L. Smith (Plumas, Manitoba), advised Synod leadership that he had accepted the call to serve as the Atlantic Canada area missionary for the East District, stationed in Halifax.
