In two annual events Lutheran Church–Canada received five church workers and sent an additional six into the field for a year of vicarage in preparation for the pastoral ministry.

Concordia Lutheran Seminary, Edmonton held its Sacred Convocation, Thursday, May 24 at Bethel Lutheran Church in nearby Sherwood Park, Alta. During the service three men received their Master of Divinity degrees and accepted placements in parishes:

Scott Brayall Faith, Grand Prairie, Alta.
Kai Buck Peace, Trail/St. Peter, Castlegar, B.C.
Andrew McDonald, Lord of Life, Kamloops, B.C.

EDMONTON – At its annual conference The Canadian Centre for Scholarship and the Christian Faith, a think-tank headed by Lutheran Church–Canada pastor and Religious Studies professor Rev. Dr. Bill Anderson, will explore the theme “Indigenous People and the Christian Faith: A New Way Forward.”

EDMONTON – Regents from both Lutheran Church–Canada (LCC) seminaries, Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary (CLTS), St. Catharines and Concordia Lutheran Seminary (CLS), Edmonton, met for their annual joint meeting January 30, 2018 in Edmonton as outlined in their 2011 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
During the joint sessions each seminary shared details about enrolment trends and projections, budget, and financing, as well as highlights of the mission they share training pastors, deacons, and leaders of LCC. EDMONTON – On Monday, January 29 during Chapel, Concordia Lutheran Seminary (CLS) president, Rev. Dr. James Gimbel announced where second-year seminarians will go to participate in the annual “Take Wing” program. Each year, to prepare its second year students for vicarage, the seminary—with financial support from the CLS Guild—sends students across Canada for a weekend to learn from a local pastor in a new context.

Ann Arbor, MI – Lutheran students from Canada heading to university or college are eligible to apply for two student assistance programs at Concordia University, Ann Arbor according to Rev. Charles Schulz, Pre-seminary Director at the LCMS institution.
One is the Luther Promise. It awards US$16,000, $18,000 or $20,000 per year for four years for all Lutheran students interested in any area of study, with amounts depending on the student’s academic qualifications.
