CLS announces presidential nominees

EDMONTON – Concordia Lutheran Seminary (CLS) has announced the names of those nominated for the office of President of CLS. The deadline for nominations was July 15. (The Canadian Lutheran will publish an updated list when the seminary has received responses from all nominees.)

Nominees are listed below in alphabetical order by last name, with each entry noting whether the nominee had accepted, declined, or was still considering the nomination at time The Canadian Lutheran went to press. The nominees have until August 15 to respond to their nomination.

5. Rev. Dr. Steve Chambers (Edmonton, Alberta) – still considering
6. Rev. Dr. James Gimbel (St. Paul, Minnesota) – accepted
7. Rev. Dr. Joel Humann (Cambridge, England) – declined
8. Rev. Dr. James Keller (Waterloo, Ontario) – accepted
9. Rev. Dr. Thomas Korcok (Niagara-on-the-lake, Ontario) – still considering
10. Rev. Dr. John Maxfield (Edmonton, Alberta) – accepted
11. Rev. Dr. Steven Mueller (Irvine, California) – declined
12. Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Oschwald (St. Louis, Missouri) – still considering
13. Rev. Dr. Joseph Randrianasolo (Madagascar) – still considering
14. Rev. Dr. Harold Ristau (Angus, Ontario) – still considering

In total, four of these nominees have accepted the nomination to stand for president: Rev. Dr. James Keller, Rev. Dr. James Gimbel, Rev. Dr. John Maxfield,  and Rev. Dr. Glenn Schaeffer. Eight others are still considering the nomination.

All comments regarding these nominees must be filed with the secretary of the Board of Regents (contact information below) before September 30, 2013. The election is scheduled for Friday, October 25, 2013.
