CLWR seeking new Executive Director

CANADA – Canadian Lutheran World Relief (CLWR), is seeking a highly qualified Executive Director who will passionately share the mission and vision of the organization and maintain the organization’s positive reputation as a trusted and valuable contributor to the global community. The Executive Director will maintain strong connections to networks of national and international ecumenical, development and governmental agencies, helping to fulfill the organization’s vision of creating a world where people live in peace with hope, justice, dignity and equality.

Reporting to a diverse Board of Directors, the Executive Director leads the implementation of the strategic directions of the organization and oversees all operations. He/she works with the Board to develop and implement sound financial, human resource and operational policies and practices aligned with CLWR values and strategic directions and in compliance with provincial and federal reporting requirements. The Executive Director leads the generation of revenue from numerous sources to continuously support the work of CLWR. He/she develops and maintains an environment and culture that promotes compassion, continuous improvement and achievement of results.

The successful candidate will bring to this position a post-secondary degree in education, international development/relations, social work, administration, community development, theology or a related discipline and 10 years’ senior leadership experience in the field of international humanitarian assistance, refugee affairs, international development, or related area. An understanding of Lutheran doctrine and active membership in a congregation is necessary. Extensive experience managing large budgets, soliciting financial support for philanthropic endeavours, leading staff, supporting a volunteer Board of Directors and delivering programs and services to vulnerable populations is required. You must be able to travel nationally and internationally.
