EDMONTON – Over the past week, we have been reporting on the health of Dr. Edwin Lehman, President Emeritus of Lutheran Church–Canada. Following hospitalization at Grey Nuns Hospital for an infection, Dr. Lehman was moved to Edmonton’s University Hospital where he was diagnosed with cancer in one of his kidneys.

On the night of February 13, Dr. Lehman underwent surgery to remove the cancerous kidney. By all appearances, the surgery went well, and Dr. Lehman is now recovering from the procedure. There is no information at this time about possible follow-up treatments.

We ask that our churches continue to keep Dr. Lehman in their prayers, that God would grant healing and recovery from the surgery.
