From Megadeth to Megalife

2017-Ellefson-PosterEDMONTON – Grammy-award-winning musician David Ellefson of Megadeth will give a lecture entitled “From Megadeth to Megalife” at Concordia University of Edmonton on March 17, 2017 at 4:00 p.m..

In addition to being a long-standing member of the band Megadeth, Ellefson has also studied at Concordia Lutheran Seminary in St. Louis, and is the founder of MEGA Life ministries, a satellite of Shepherd of the Desert Church (a member of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod) in Scotsdale, Arizona.

Ellefson’s lecture will present Martin Luther’s view on music in a Law and Gospel oriented lecture, and will draw on Ellefson’s unique position to discuss Luther’s view of music in relationship to secular art.

The event is sponsored by the Canadian Centre for Scholarship and the Christian Faith (CCSCF), along with Faithlife Financial, as part of Reformation 500 commemorations. “Ellefson will no doubt entertain and educate at this very exciting event,” says Rev. Dr. Bill Anderson, Director of the CCSCF. “Enjoy a mix of theology, song, and stories.”

The lecture is free and open to the public with a reception to follow. It will be held in the Tegler of CUE.
