LCC seminaries prepare for call day

cls-clts-webCANADA – Lutheran Church–Canada’s (LCC) two seminaries are preparing for their sacred convocation and call services, when pastoral candidates will receive their first calls and vicars their vicarage assignments.

Concordia Lutheran Seminary (CLS) in Edmonton will hold its Sacred Convocation on May 29 at 7:00 p.m.  local time in the Robert Tegler Student Centre of Concordia University of Edmonton. CLS has four pastoral candidates who will be receiving their first calls during this service. At the same time, graduates of the diaconal program, trained in the Director of Parish Services program through Concordia University College of Alberta, will also be recognized in preparation for their placement into service within LCC. The public is invited to attend the Sacred Convocation in person or via webcast here.

Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary (CLTS) in St. Catharines, Ontario will hold its annual Call Service a day later on May 30 at 4:00 p.m. local time in Christ Lutheran Church (St. Catharines). The seminary will celebrate the first calls of one new graduate, one 2013 graduate who had deferred placement at his graduation, and one Pastors with Alternate Training graduate. The seminary will also announce the placement of three vicars during the event. CLTS will also be live-streaming its service online.

The Canadian Lutheran will report the placements of vicars and the firsts call of pastoral graduates next week.
