Missionary sends encouraging message

LCC missionary, Rev. Alexey Navrotsky

As Concordia Lutheran Mission Society (CLMS) gathers in Calgary this weekend for its annual meeting, LCC missionary Rev. Alexey Navrotsky has sent a video report expressing the thanks of Lutherans in Ukraine for the society’s support. The video shows scenes of various projects supported by CLMS over the past years including the seminary building dedicated in August 2010, ministry to orphans and youth summer camps.

CLMS formed in 1997 to gather funds in support of Lutheran Church–Canada (LCC) mission projects. Each year members gather to consider project proposals and decide which ones it will place before its members and supporters to fund over the year. In 2010 the society set a goal to raise $129,000 to fund 19 projects. The society is an official auxiliary organization of LCC.

The CLMS Annual General Meeting will be hosted by Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Calgary starting at 1 p.m., Sunday, February 6, followed by a Mission Festival at 3 p.m. featuring Rev. Dr. Leonardo Neitzel, LCC mission executive, as the guest preacher. The offering has been designated to support a CLMS mission project in Costa Rica.
