What do Yosemite Sam and Tom Selleck have in common with Rev. Warren Steckelberg and Rev. Rod Buck? Awesome moustaches! That’s why this November many of the faculty and students at Concordia Lutheran Seminary in Edmonton are teaming up with men around the world to participate in “Movember”.

A combination of “mo” for moustache, and the month name—November, the campaign asks men to raise funds and awareness for fighting prostate cancer by growing a moustache during the month of November.
Starting clean-shaven on November 1, the Mo Bros began their one-month quest to grow the best moustache possible. Through thick and thin (facial hair) they come together to help battle for men’s health.

According to the Movember website, one in four Canadians will die from cancer, and one in six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer. Movember was created to raise funds through donations to Prostate Cancer Canada, and bring awareness to issues that affect men’s health.

Joining the Concordia Lutheran Seminary moustache growers are friends from the ABC District office. You can check their sponsorship progress and add your donation at www.movember.com  by searching for the ‘Semboyz’ team.

This is an excellent opportunity for members of Lutheran Church–Canada congregations to show support for men’s health issues as Christians and as those who have been affected by cancer in one way or another.

Hopefully one day—many Movembers from now—one of our names may be mentioned as part of a moustache dream team, like the one at the top, used to inspire people to help support men’s health.

UPDATE: Semboyz raised $1075 to support prostate cancer research.
