WINNIPEG – September 22-27 was a busy period at Lutheran Church–Canada’s (LCC) synodical office in Winnipeg, as the Commission for Theology and Church Relations (CTCR), the Council of Presidents (COP), and the Board of Directors (BOD) all held meetings in office for the first time since the 2014 synodical convention.

First to meet during the week was the CTCR, meeting September 22-23. The commission welcomed Rev. Joel Kuhl and Rev. James Heinbuch, elected at the 2014 convention, to the commission. Cliff Pyle was also elected to a second term on the CTCR, and was welcomed back.

The COP, meeting September 24-25, welcomed newly elected Third Vice President Mark L. Smith. On September 26, the BOD arrived. During a morning service in Christ the Servant chapel at LCC’s national office, President Bugbee installed Vice President Smith and newly elected BOD members Rev. Kurt Reinhardt and Cindy Sholdice as officers of synod. Alan Schmitt, although elected at the most recent convention, was unable to attend the meeting.

The meetings also saw Arnold Drung begin in a new term as Chairman of LCC’s Board of Directors. Drung was reelected to another term on the BOD at synod’s convention in Vancouver.
