WINNIPEG – The Board of Directors of Lutheran Church–Canada (LCC) is seeking nominations for an Executive Assistant to the President for Mission and Social Ministry Services. He shall be called by the Board of Directors upon recommendation of the personnel committee and with the consent of the President of Synod. KITCHENER, Ontario – A short-term mission team made up of Rev. Roland Syens, his wife Anita, along with DPS Intern Lenora Wallden from Holy Cross Lutheran Church and Erika Brandt from Bethel Lutheran Church in Kitchener, Ontario went to Nicaragua from October 25-November 2, 2017. The group spent seven days filled with different ministry events, and were able to visit many of the churches in the area around Chinandega as well as churches in Leon all the way up to Sebaco.

KITCHENER, Ontario – During its 2017 synodical convention, Lutheran Church–Canada welcomed guests from several international partner churches.

CANADA – Lutheran Church–Canada has declared altar and pulpit fellowship with the Evangelical Lutheran Mission Diocese of Finland.
The action was taken during LCC’s synodical convention meeting in Kitchener, Ontario, and was adopted unanimously. It comes following discussions between representatives of the two church bodies revealed doctrinal unity, with LCC’s Commission on Theology and Church Relations recommending the declaration of fellowship.

UPDATE (August 8): Police have now confirmed that there was no threat connected with the delivery.
LOUIS, Missouri – The bomb squad was called to Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri on August 7, 2017 following the discovery of a suspicious package in the mailroom. Several buildings were evacuated and the campus was put in lockdown.
Bomb technicians determined the package was not explosive but initially said it was a “threatening package” and “meant to cause alarm.” Police backtracked that assessment later, saying the package was in fact an expected delivery …

USA – When representatives of the North American Lutheran Church (NALC), The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS), and Lutheran Church–Canada (LCC) started meeting together more than five years ago, it was decided that the group would sponsor a book of essays on the proper distinction of God’s Law from His Gospel.
