HIS-Story: Free Quest Course on the Old Testament from CLS

clsEDMONTON – Concordia Lutheran Seminary is planning its next Quest course, and is inviting you to take part for free. From October 4-25, a number of instructors will team-teach a weekly series on HIS-story: God and His People in the Old Testament.

“How well do you know the Old Testament?” promotional material asks. “It spreads across time and space, anticipating everything God eventually did through Christ to redeem the whole world. Even so, the story of God and His people Israel has value and integrity of its own.”

The course will take place every Tuesday evening in October from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. local time, with each session covering two topics. Topics and instructors include:

  • Intro the Old Testament – Rev. Dr. Steven Chambers
  • Origins – Rev. Dr. Vern Raaflaub
  • Patriarchs – Rev. Jonathan Kraemer
  • Exodus – Rev. Jonathan Kraemer
  • Conquest and Settlement – Rev. Darren Dressler
  • The United Monarchy – Rev. Darren Dressler
  • Kings and Kingdoms – Rev. Dr. Jim Gimbel
  • The ‘End’ of the Story – Rev. Dr. Jim Gimbel

Those interested in participating can do so either on campus or online (http://concordia.adobeconnect.com/quest). There is no cost to participate, but organizers ask people to register by email at admin@concordiasem.ab.ca or by phone at 1-780-484-1486 (ext. 225).
