Missions Forum on Central America: An Invitation to Listen, Learn, and Engage
National—Congregations, auxiliaries, and all who support the work of international missions are warmly invited to an upcoming online forum hosted by the Director of International Missions who will be providing an update on our mission in Central America on Sunday, April 19, 2026 at 4:00PM CT.
The Forum will primarily focus on one region of Central America where the Church’s work continues amid significant external pressures that has, at times, threatened normal operations and financial pathways. Yet, by God’s mercy, the work itself has remained largely uninterrupted. Local church workers continue steadfastly in their calling, proclaiming Christ and administering His gifts. By the grace of God, Lutheran Day Schools, feeding programs, outreach initiatives, and the many local ministries that serve both body and soul have continued without interruption, faithfully bearing witness to Christ’s grace, mercy and love in the midst of adversity. At the same time, efforts have been made to ensure the stability of support for church workers and to strengthen structures that will allow the Church’s life to endure should conditions become more restrictive.
There is also reason for encouragement in the work of forming future servants of the Church. A growing number of pastoral and diaconal students are being prepared for service, equipping the next generation to carry forward a faithful Lutheran witness within their own communities. This work reflects a long-term commitment not only to sustain what has been entrusted to us, but to establish a durable and enduring presence for years to come.
While details must be shared with care, this 1-hr long gathering offers a valuable opportunity to hear directly from those engaged in the field and to deepen your understanding of how the Gospel is being proclaimed in challenging settings.
Participants will also have the opportunity to engage in conversation, ask questions, and hear from the Director of the Lutheran Laymen’s League, highlighting our shared commitment to mission and partnership in the work of the Church.
Join as a Congregation
Congregations and groups are encouraged to host a gathering to participate together. This not only supports those who may be less comfortable with technology, but also fosters fellowship and shared reflection on the Church’s mission, as congregants gather together around this common cause.
