LCC’s spending budget for 2026-27
CANADA – As we share the 2026-27 spending budget, we draw your attention to the story of the shared purpose, faithful stewardship, and renewed commitment to the mission of the Church that these numbers tell. Through prayerful discernment and collaboration across Lutheran Church–Canada, the finance team prepared this budget that reflects a collective desire to move forward together in service to the Gospel.
This year’s budget also reflects wisdom gained through experience. While recent financial results have been strengthened by extraordinary one-time contributions, leadership has approached planning with care and humility, ensuring that resources are stewarded responsibly for long-term sustainability.
The process itself speaks volumes. Through thoughtful engagement, detailed review, and shared discernment, leaders across the Synod have contributed to a budget that is both grounded and forward-looking.
At a total of approximately $5.2 million, the budget directs the majority of resources toward frontline ministry. As illustrated in the accompanying chart, the largest allocations support International Missions (22%) and Domestic Missions (22%), underscoring a clear commitment to sharing the Gospel both abroad and within Canada. These investments reflect ongoing discernment around emerging opportunities, including urban, Indigenous, and new mission contexts, as well as the need to sustain congregational life in isolated, underserved communities.
Ecclesiastical Services (14%) and Higher Education (10%) further highlight the importance of supporting church workers and theological formation, including emphasis on vicarage placement and leadership development. Communication and Advancement functions, together with Common Services, accounting collectively for the remaining portion of the budget, ensure that the necessary infrastructure is in place to sustain and expand ministry impact.
Approved by the Board of Directors at its March 28, 2026, meeting, this budget stands as an expression of unity and trust—an invitation to move forward together, confident that God continues to guide and bless the work entrusted to His Church.
