BSLS Expands: A Christ-Centered High School
by Kiera Zubriski

WINNIPEG, Man. – With hearts full of gratitude and thanksgiving to God, Beautiful Saviour Lutheran School (BSLS) gathered on April 13 to celebrate a significant milestone in the groundbreaking for its high school expansion in Norwood Flats.
The occasion reflected a journey shaped by faithful service, generous support, and a shared dedication to Christ-centered education. Members of the school community, along with supporters and partners, came together to recognize the innumerable contributions that have shaped BSLS since its founding in 1983.
Throughout the years, the school’s growth has been sustained by committed staff, supportive families, devoted volunteers, prayerful congregations, and generous donors. Each has played an important role in forming the strong foundation upon which this next phase now builds.
BSLS currently serves students from 18 months old through grade 10 and is expanding through grade 12, with the goal of celebrating its first graduating class in 2028. BSLS will be the only Lutheran high school in Canada, offering students a distinctive opportunity to continue their education in an environment where faith is central to all aspects of learning.
This expansion reflects the practical growth of the school and God’s continued work within the community. It speaks to an increasing desire for education rooted in faith and a commitment to nurturing students who are grounded in their beliefs, strong in character, and equipped to serve.
A meaningful moment at the groundbreaking ceremony highlighted this sense of growth and continuity as three students who have been part of the BSLS community since preschool took part in the ceremony, symbolically breaking ground for the new high school. Their involvement was a reminder of the school’s impact and the opportunity this expansion creates for students to continue their Christ-centered education from their earliest years through graduation.
The ceremony also recognized key partners contributing to the realization of this project, including Winnipeg Building and Decorating Ltd. and LM Architectural Group / Environmental Space Planning.
As construction begins, the BSLS community is grateful for the prayers that have upheld the school, the sacrifices that have enabled its growth, and the vision that continues to guide its future.
Guided by its mission of “Excellence in Education, Under the Gospel,” BSLS looks ahead with confidence and hope, encouraging students to grow in faith and purpose as they live out Christ’s call to “Let your light shine.”
