Life in the Body of Christ: LCC Releases New Devotional
ONLINE – Lutheran Church–Canada (LCC) has introduced a new devotional, Life in the Body of Christ: Meditations on Living with Christ in His Church. The devotional is authored by Rev. M. L. Smith, LCC’s Director for International Missions, and features original artwork by LCC member Harrison Avery Prozenko to accompany the reflections.
“The Christian life is a life lived in Christ, through the Church, and under the cross,” notes the introduction. “It is not a path of personal achievement or isolated spirituality, but one of daily grace—given, received, and shared.”
The devotions are organized around key aspects of life within the Christian Church, with each meditation focused on a particular theme, including baptism, the Divine Service, the Lord’s Supper, Confession and Absolution, the Pastoral Office, Fellowship, Prayer, Vocation, Stewardship, Evangelism, and Discipleship.
“These meditations are not intended as academic essays or emotional reflections,” the introduction notes, “but as pastoral encouragements for real people living real lives anchored in Word and Sacrament, clothed in Christ, and called to walk in Him.”
Print copies of the devotional were distributed to each convention delegate at LCC’s 2026 Synod Convention. In addition, a free digital edition will be soon available to download on LCC’s website for personal or congregational use. Those wishing to purchase additional print copies may do so on Amazon.ca.
LCC prays that this devotional will serve as a meaningful resource for individuals and households throughout the synod, inviting reflection on the gifts of the Church, the life of the believer, and the theology of the cross.
