CLTS announces 2026 Lenten Preaching Retreat

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. – Building on the strong response to its inaugural preaching retreat in 2024, Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary (CLTS) is preparing to host its second preaching retreat, focused on developing a sermon series for Lent.
Scheduled for January 19–20, 2026, the retreat will bring together CLTS faculty and guest lecturers to cover a range of topics, including:
- Session 1: Why Lent—and Why Midweek Lenten Sermons? (Presenter: Dr. Thomas Winger)
- Session 2: Is That a Theme or Just a Vague Idea? (Presenter: Dr. Tom Korcok)
- Session 3: Sermon Outlines—Not Just Three Random Points (Presenter: Dr. James Kellerman)
- Session 4: Fresh Vocabulary for Your Lenten Sermons (Presenter: Rev. David Duke)
- Session 5: Why Lutherans Preach Differently—and Ought To (Presenter: Rev. Denton White of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Bergholtz, NY)
The registration fee is $225 (deadline January 12, 2026), with an early bird rate of $200 available until December 19, 2025.
Attendees travelling from outside the area are asked to arrange their own accommodations.
