“Caring for Those Who Have Left the Faith”—Mini Conference

RED DEER, Alta. – On April 24 and 25, Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, alongside Concordia Lutheran Seminary, will be hosting Rev. Bryan Wolfmueller (LCMS) for a mini conference that will equip attendees to care for those who have left the faith. Most Christians know someone in this situation, which can occur for a variety of reasons, but many feel unsure about how to reach out to their loved one. How can we, in faithful love, care for those who have left the Church?

Rev. Wolfmueller was the speaker at the 2024 Alberta Church Workers’ conference, and will be returning to Alberta for just 24 hours for a conference open to everyone.

The event will begin at 4:30 pm on the 24th, and run from 8:30 to 10:30 am on the 25th. There will be fellowship time on the Friday evening for attendees to meet Rev. Wolfmueller, but, due to flight schedules, he will leave promptly on Saturday morning; however, everyone is welcome to spend more time in fellowship afterwards.

Rev. Wolfmueller is pastor of St. Paul and Jesus Deaf Lutheran Churches in Austin, TX. He is the author of numerous books, including Finally Free (CPH, 2025) and Has American Christianity Failed? (CPH, 2016). He is host of the Theology Q&A Podcast, the Worldwide Bible Class, and posts videos on YouTube at wolfmueller1. Rev. Wolfmueller and his wife Keri host annual international theological tours, and he has a number of other theological projects that all end up on his blog, www.wolfmueller.co. He is a member of the Doxology Collegium, and he and Keri (both proud parents and grandparents!) live in Round Rock, TX.

The four sessions that Rev. Wolfmueller will present are: The Hometown Prophet Problem; Long Distance Miracles; Spiritual Guard Duty, and Calling in Reinforcements; and It Will Not Depart from Them. As well, related resources will be available for purchase (see the list below).

There is no cost for this event, but there will be a freewill offering to help cover the food and other expenses.

Please RSVP by March 26 for yourself and any guests you might be bringing. Call 403-346-3798 or email calvary@telusplanet.net and indicate whether you will be there Friday or Saturday, or both. If you have any questions, please email pastor.sbrayall@gmail.com.
