C.T. Wetzstein Donor Advised Fund calls for proposals to support 2023 Christian education in Canada

Regina, SK – The C.T. Wetzstein Donor Advised Fund in support of Christian Education is calling for proposals for 2023—its seventh year of financially supported confessional Lutheran education projects through Lutheran schools and other ministries in Canada. Application may be made using the supplied application form and the deadline to apply is February 28, 2022.

C.T. Wetzstein Donor Advised Fund in support of Christian Education

The C. T. Wetzstein Donor Advised Fund honours the legacy of the Rev. Dr. C. T. Wetzstein, a long time pastor of the Lutheran Church in Canada. All of Pastor Wetzstein’s children continued in a life of service to the Gospel, including his youngest son, Ralph ‘Mickey’ who served as a Lutheran school teacher and in refugee settlement with Canadian Lutheran World Relief (CLWR). Upon Mickey’s death in 2008, the C.T. Wetzstein Donor Advised Fund was established by his widow, Aileen Wetzstein, as a means of making good on her husband’s longtime commitment to Christian education. The Wetzstein family administers the fund, in coordination with Lutheran Foundation Canada.

In May of last year, the C.T. Wetzstein Donor Advised Fund in Support of Christian Education granted over $26,000 in funding to a variety of educational ministries across Canada. Recipients for 2022 included:

  • BC Boat Mission, Courtenay, BC for staff and board development
  • Bethlehem Preschool, Edmonton, AB for children’s Bibles
  • Camp Lutherland, Regina SK for AV presentation equipment
  • Lutheran Laymen’s League, Canada for French language outreach programs
  • Sowing Seeds Preschool, Surrey, BC for facilities improvements

Donations to the Fund are gratefully received and may be made through the Lutheran Foundation Canada offices.
