Canadian-Brazilian pastors in Koinonia at the Convention in Winnipeg
Winnipeg—During the 2026 LCC Convention in Winnipeg, some of our Canadian‑Brazilian pastors enjoyed moments of conversation, fellowship, and even watched a World Cup match together! Coming to Canada as early as 2004 and as recently as 2025, they all serve the Lord with gladness, adding a bit of ‘Brazilian seasoning’ to the work of Lutheran Church–Canada.

Left to right: Rev. Airton Glitz (Churchbridge, SK), Rev. Edivar Govaski (Thunder Bay, ON), Rev. Martin Jagnow (Drumheller, AB), Rev. Davi Schmidt (Kitchener, ON), Rev. Paulo Brum (Regina, SK), Rev. Lucas Albrecht (Vancouver, BC), Rev. Markus Zeuch (Calgary, AB), Rev. Dionatan Ferreira (Chatham/Amherstburg, ON), Rev. Saulo Bledoff (Snyder, ON), and Rev. Dr. Alexandre Vieira (Edmonton, AB).
Historically, the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brazil (IELB) was strongly supported by LCC (then still part of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod), with generous financial resources and missionary work throughout the 1900s. Now, as Lutheran Church–Canada experiences pastoral shortages, the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brazil as well as other sister churches are helping to provide pastors to serve and shepherd LCC congregations.
