CLS extends Call to Dr. Joel Heck as Interim President

An announcement from Concordia Lutheran Seminary (Edmonton):

After an extended search process and careful and prayerful consideration, the Board of Regents has unanimously chosen to extend the Divine Call to Rev. Dr. Joel Heck of Austin Texas to come to Edmonton (with wife Cheryl) to serve as Interim President.  The Call was extended to him on Thursday, May 18th.

The regents, faculty, staff, and students have been impressed with Dr. Heck’s scholarship, academic tenure, grasp of life at CLS and in Canada, and eager willingness to serve in this unique interim role.

We thank God for this step and pray for God’s guidance on Dr. Heck and Cheryl as he deliberates and then as they move forward on the heels of that decision.

The board is also thankful for those who were nominated but not selected; impressed by the interest and variety of gifts and graces and interests from across the Church. And … the regents are thankful for all partners who pray, financially support, and work in a variety of ways to help sustain the mission of CLS forming servants for Jesus’ sake.
