East Regional Pastor Bublitz Reelected, New Regional Pastors for Central and West

 

WINNIPEG – Votes for Lutheran Church–Canada’s (LCC) three Regional Pastors were held during the morning of June 13. Rev. Marvin Bublitz was reelected as East Regional Pastor. Newly elected were Rev. Arron Gust as Central Regional Pastor and Rev. Michael Schutz as West Regional Pastor.

Rev. Bublitz was first elected to serve as East Regional Pastor in 2018. He was reelected to the position in 2022.

Rev. Gust is currently pastor of Grace Lutheran (Regina). He has previously served as Vice President of the Central District and on the Central District’s Board of Directors. Rev. Gust succeeds Rev. David Haberstock as Central Regional Pastor, as Rev. Haberstock was elected as Synod President earlier in the morning.

Rev. Schutz is currently pastor of Concordia (Penticton, B.C.), and has served as LCC Vice-President from 2022-present. Rev. Schutz succeeds Rev. Robert Mohns, who had announced earlier that he would not be standing for reelection at this convention. Rev. Mohns served as West Regional Pastor from 2018 to the present.

Rev. Gust, who was unopposed, received 64 votes. In the East Region, Rev. Bublitz received 65 votes while other nominee Rev. Vishal Paul received 28 votes. (Rev. Kurt Reinhardt had withdrawn his name from consideration prior to the vote). In the West Region, Rev. Schutz received 60 votes while other nominee Rev. Jan Pastuch received 57 votes.

The morning also saw the election of circuit counsellors.
