First calls for 2019’s graduating pastors, vicarage assignments

CANADA – Concordia Lutheran Seminary (CLS – Edmonton) and Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary (CLTS – St. Catharines, Ontario) held their annual convocation services Friday, May 24 and Saturday, May 25 respectively, during which time five graduating seminary candidates received their first calls.

  • Matthew Fenn (CLTS) – St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church (Stratford, Ontario)
  • Shiekh Leif Mauricio (CLS) – Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (Valleyview, Alberta)
  • Michael Mayer (CLS) – First Lutheran Church/Redeemer Lutheran Church, Logan/Monkton, Ontario)
  • Christopher McLean (CLS) – St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (Dawson Creek, B.C.)
  • Alexander Timm (CLS) – Our Saviour Lutheran Church/St. Mark Lutheran Church (Dryden/Vermillion Bay, Ontario)

During CLS’ Convocation Service, one graduate from Lutheran Church–Canada’s Pastors with Alternate Training (PAT) program was also recognized: Oboya Ochalla. Ochalla will serve the Anyuak community in Winnipeg.

Seminary students receiving vicarage placements were:

  • Markus Peschel (CLTS) – Redeemer Lutheran Church (Waterloo, Ontario)
  • Wendell Ritz (CLS) – Redeemer Lutheran Church (Didsbury, Alberta)

Finally, two Master of Theological Studies students graduating from CLTS were also recognized: Laurin Fenn and Susan Knowles.
