LCC Family Advent Devotional Calendar offered in French

CANADA – Lutheran Church–Canada (LCC)’s newest Advent resource for families, a devotional calendar titled “Waiting for Jesus,” is now also available in French.

Two print-at-home Advent Devotional Calendars have been released this year: Waiting for Jesus and Immanuel: God with Us. Waiting for Jesus is now offered in both English and French.

Prepared by Dcn. Samantha Neeb, LCC’s new Associate Director – Family Ministries, these calendars invite families to reflect on how our Lord came as the Christ Child, comes to us now through Word and Sacraments, and will come again in His promised return—while providing practical tips for beginning a daily devotional practice at home.

All calendars are available to view and download in print-ready format: 

• En attendant Jésus (Français)
• Waiting for Jesus (English)
• Immanuel: God with Us (English)

We extend our sincere thanks to Rev. Dr. David Saar for his translation work, which has made Waiting for Jesus accessible to French-speaking families.

We pray that these materials will bless the many young families across our synod this Advent season and serve as a helpful supplement to attending your local congregation’s midweek and Divine Services.

What’s Next?

LCC’s French-language website (egliselutherienne.ca) is currently undergoing major improvements as we strengthen our digital presence in service to a bilingual country and beyond.

Structural and content updates are underway to ensure the site is:

• Navigable and catechetical for users
• Sustainable with long-term succession planning in mind
• High-quality to reflect the excellent resource development done by our French-speaking pastors and missionaries

LCC’s ongoing work has helped expand access to confessional Lutheran resources in French on an international level. Alongside the release of two widely used French-language hymnals, LCC provides an extensive variety of free digital resources for pastors and church workers, parents and catechists, and laity—all grounded in the Church Year.

These resources complement the digital presence of the Francophone Lutheran Liturgical Institute (Institut liturgique luthérien francophone – ILLF), which equips pastors and church workers with a deeper understanding of the historic liturgy and provides practical and educational tools. ILLF remains the only Confessional Lutheran institute of its kind available entirely in French.
