LCC Seminaries set dates for Call Services

CANADA – Lutheran Church–Canada (LCC)’s two seminaries have announced dates for this year’s Call Services which will take place in person, with a live-streaming option for those unable to attend.

Concordia Lutheran Seminary (CLS – Edmonton) announced that their Sacred Convocation will take place at Concordia Lutheran Church (420 19A Ave NW, Edmonton, AB) on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. MDT and will also be accessible online via their YouTube Channel.

In a Facebook post, CLS announced: “The Convocation follows an Ascension theme for worship, and includes the granting of academic degrees, placements for the pastoral candidate and vicars, the installation of our two new faculty members, and the granting of three honorary awards!”

Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary (CLTS – St. Catharines) announced that their annual Call Service will take place at Christ Lutheran Church (140 Russell Ave, St. Catharines, ON) on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. EDT. CLTS announced that they “heartily invite members of LCC, and especially friends and family of the students and award recipients, to attend this festive event.” For those who cannot attend in person, the service will be live-streamed on their YouTube Channel.

CLTS announced that, during the service, Chad Miller will be certified to be called into the holy ministry and will receive his congregational placement in the service. The vicarage placements of two students, Daniel Cunningham and Trey Doak, will also be announced, in addition to the recognition of other students for their academic achievements.

CLTS has also announced that Rev. Dr Wilhelm Torgerson, Assistant Pastor at First Lutheran Church (Windsor, ON) has been selected to receive the Delta Chi (Servant of Christ) award, the seminary’s highest honour. Dr. Torgerson’s long history of dedicated service to the church will be shared during the service.

Following the online announcements, The Canadian Lutheran will report the first calls for graduating pastors and vicarage placements.
