LCC seminaries set dates to announce first calls
CANADA – Lutheran Church–Canada (LCC)’s two seminaries have announced dates for this year’s Call Services which will take place in person, with a live-streaming option for those unable to attend.
Concordia Lutheran Seminary (CLS – Edmonton) announced that their Sacred Convocation will take place at Bethel Lutheran Church (298 Bethel Dr., Sherwood Park, AB) on Friday, May 23, 2025 at 7 p.m. MDT., and will also be accessible online via their YouTube Channel. The service will include pastoral placement for Martin Jagnow; diaconal placement for Samantha Neeb; and vicarage placement for Ben Rast.
CLS will present Dr. Collen Hammermaster with the Friend of the Seminary award, which honours church workers and laity who have served the church in particularly meaningful ways.
Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary (CLTS – St. Catharines) will hold its annual Call Service at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church (213 Linwell Rd, St. Catharines, ON) on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at 3 p.m. EDT.
CLTS invites members of LCC, and especially friends and family of the students and award recipients, to attend this festive event. For those who cannot attend in person, the service will be live-streamed on their YouTube Channel.
During the service, Aaron Parkhurst and Vijay Samuel will be certified to be called into the holy ministry and will receive their placements. Joseph Behl will be placed as a vicar. Other students will be recognized for their academic achievements.
Rev. Kurt Lantz, pastor of Resurrection Lutheran Church (St. Catharines, ON) has been selected to received the Delta Chi (Servant of Christ) award, the seminary’s highest honour. Rev. Robert Krestick has been selected to receive the Friend of the Seminary award.
Following the Call Services, The Canadian Lutheran will report the first calls for graduating pastors.
