Litany for Those Impacted by Wildfires

CANADA – Lutheran Church–Canada (LCC) President Timothy Teuscher is urging prayer for all those impacted by the wildfires in our nation’s western provinces, and shares the following Litany:

Almighty and everlasting God, the consolation of the sorrowful and the strength of the weak, may the prayers of those who are in any distress, especially those affected by the wildfires in the western provinces of our nation, come before You, so that in all their necessities they may mark and receive Your manifold help and comfort. Lord, in Your mercy; hear our prayer. 

Gracious Lord, heavenly Father, protect and defend the firefighters and emergency personnel who are responding to the wildfires in our nation. Give them strength in their difficult task and bless their efforts. Lord, in Your mercy; hear our prayer. 

Merciful Father in heaven, our strength in times of despair, be with all who have lost their homes to wildfires, comfort them in their distress, strengthen them for the uncertain journey ahead, sustain them with Your loving embrace, and grant that they may find a sense of home once again. Lord, in Your mercy; hear our prayer. 

Lord God, heavenly Father, give us compassionate hearts to serve with our time and treasures all those in need as a result of the wildfires that are raging in many provinces of our nation. Lord, in Your mercy; hear our prayer.

Heavenly Father, Creator and Ruler of all, without Your care and preservation all things wither and die. Open the windows of heaven and send bountiful rain to revive and renew our land. Lord, in Your mercy; hear our prayer.

All this we ask, heavenly Father, for the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord, who has rescued us from the fiery furnace of everlasting death by His bitter sufferings and death and who now lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
