Liturgical Calendar 2020

CANADA – Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary (CLTS) in St. Catharines, Ontario has announced that it is trying a different approach this year for its popular liturgical wall calendar.

For more than a decade, CLTS—in cooperation with Concordia Lutheran Seminary in Edmonton, in recent years—has provided all congregations of Lutheran Church–Canada with a liturgical wall calendar intended primarily for use by altar guilds. The calendar contains the liturgical festivals of the three-year and one-year lectionary series, together with their parament/vestment colours and space to write notes.

In recent years, however, the cost to print and mail these large posters has become a burden. To save on costs, this year the calendar is being provided online as a downloadable pdf, which congregations can print off locally. Advantages over the old system include the opportunity to print the calendar in colour, more space for notes, and the opportunity to post as many or as few months at a time as fits the congregation’s wall space (each month fills one letter-sized page).

CLTS intends to survey congregations in the new year to gauge response to the new system.
