Meet LAMP’s New Executive Director

LAMP – The joint board of directors of LAMP – Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots (Canada) and LAMP Ministry (US) is pleased to announce the call and acceptance of Rev. Dr. Steven Schave as the new Executive Director.  Dr. Schave was called after an extensive search by the boards who stated in a release that they believe “LAMP is blessed to have someone with his background and experience to lead LAMP forward into the future.”

In his previous call, Dr. Schave served in the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) Office of National Mission as both director of Church Planting and director of Urban and Inner City Missions. He is a second-career pastor and a former business executive, bringing a decade of experience in entrepreneurship, business systems, and executive leadership to his new role with LAMP.

Dr. Schave received his Doctor of Ministry at Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne with a dissertation that focused on church planting resources based on a ‘witness, mercy, life together’ framework for doing missions. His past ministry work includes an extensive focus on outreach through human care, as well as church revitalization with a focus on neighbourhood renewal in the inner city. Rev. Schave and his wife Kim have relocated to the Alberta for this new call.

“I would like to thank the Board of Directors of LAMP for extending a call to me to serve as the next executive director of LAMP’s ministries,” Dr. Schave said. “I am grateful for your confidence in my God-given experience, skills, and knowledge as I can only give glory to God. I have been blessed since my years at the seminary to lead various mission organizations starting with our campus mission society, but LAMP certainly has a special place in my heart.” It is his hope that “God richly bless our work to reach the lost and serve the least to the most remote regions of His children in First Nations.”

Those interested in getting to know Rev. Dr. Steven Schave can watch his free webinar which was requested by the Rural and Small Town Department of the LCMS. In this webinar, he assists congregations in dealing with the traumatic aftermath of the pandemic, and provides guidance on how to help church members, and how to reach out to neighbours in love.
