Due to the effects of the COVID-19 situation, the 2021 National Youth Gathering, In Not Of, has been rescheduled to 2022. Now the 12th LCC NYG will be in Winnipeg at the University of Manitoba from July 15-19, 2022, and a new video has been published with an overview of the past eleven gatherings.

The first NYG was held in 1989 in Thunder Bay, ON, and one has been held every three years since then, alternating between the Regions. The last time the NYG was held in Winnipeg was in 2013, when the song accompanying the new NYG video was written. The theme was Stand Firm, based on Exodus 14:13-14. The most recent NYG was held in Langley, BC, in 2019.

The National Youth Gathering’s new mission statement is: Providing opportunities for Lutheran youth to grow in faith and relationship with others as the body of Christ. The committee is looking forward to fulfilling this mission under the theme of In Not Of, based on Philippians 3:20, and is very pleased that the main speaker will be Rev. Eric Moffett.

Rev. Moffett is the Associate Pastor at Foothills Lutheran Church in Calgary, and he’s been involved with youth gatherings since he was a youth himself. For more information on the theme, visit the NYG’s Facebook page or YouTube channel to see the video introducing him as the speaker.

Youth, leaders, volunteers, and exhibitors are invited to attend the 2022 NYG in Winnipeg!
