New from LCC Family Ministries: Print-at-Home Advent Devotional Calendars
CANADA – Lutheran Church–Canada (LCC) is pleased to announce a new resource designed to support the devotional life of families across LCC this Advent season.
Two print-at-home Advent Devotional Calendars have been released titled, Waiting for Jesus and Immanuel: God with Us.
Prepared by Dcn. Samantha Neeb, LCC’s new Associate Director – Family Ministries, both calendars include tips for beginning a daily devotional practice, additional guidance and support for families with children of varying ages, as well as links and resource options for those seeking other relevant materials this Advent season.
“The word Advent means ‘coming.’ It is a penitential season to prepare for and reflect on Christ’s coming in past, present, and future,” the resource notes, prompting families to consider how our Lord came to us as the Christ Child; comes to us still in the Word and Sacraments; and how He will come again in His promised second coming.
- Waiting for Jesus is designed with older children or youth in mind, providing opportunities for households to reflect more deeply on how the Scripture verses point us to Christ.
- Immanuel: God with Us can be used by families with children of all ages. It offers flexibility for use alongside a Bible storybook with very young children or for older children looking for a more substantial devotion based on a longer text.
Both calendars are available to view and download in print-ready format here: Waiting for Jesus and Immanuel: God with Us.
We pray that this material will be a blessing to the many young families across our synod this Advent season, serving as a supplement to attendance at your local congregation’s midweek and Divine Services.
What’s Next?
Additional resources for families are now being featured on LCC’s website under a new Family Resources section, with visual and content updates underway. We appreciate your patience as we continue to build and improve this section in support of families, youth, and young adults across our synod. To provide feedback, please contact Dcn. Samantha Neeb.
