Quebec City Lutheran Youth Retreat

QUEBEC CITY, Que. – On July 23-24, 2022, there were nine francophone youth who attended a retreat at L’Église luthérienne de la Sainte-Trinité (Holy Trinity Lutheran Church)!

Held one weekend after the National Youth Gathering (NYG) in Winnipeg, the Quebec City retreat received postcard greetings and encouragements from other Lutheran Church–Canada youth and leaders.

Drawing on the Lord’s promise to forgive us and grant us the privilege to follow Him in faith, the theme of the retreat was Confession and Absolution.

There were sessions of daily prayer and worship, thematic sessions with questions and answers by Philippe Morel (Lutheran Hour Ministries-Canada worker for French ministries), an outing to the St. Lawrence River, a group cartoon drawing of the Prodigal Son story, and a games night prepared by Roni and Raquel Martens.

The retreat was a multi-generational event as many hands worked together to support the youth and leaders who came from four different Quebec municipalities. The event was funded by LHM–C.

Several of the attendees continue to join monthly French youth Zoom meetings. They were created during the COVID-19 era out of the necessity to find new ways to connect with each other.
