Sabbath Conference

EDMONTON – From May 3-5, 2022, the Sabbath Conference once again welcomed a mix of deacons, volunteers, and other church workers as they gathered together in fellowship and learning. The theme of this conference was “COVID Griefs, Challenges, and Transitions: Caring for Ourselves and Others,” with Rev. Jan Pastucha leading the discussion on how to care for those who are grieving, and Regional Pastor Rev. Marvin Bublitz leading the Bible studies, guiding the group through the entirety of the book of 1 Peter.

The conference was held both online and in-person, thanks to the generous offer of meeting space and technology from Concordia Lutheran Seminary. The ability to use this platform enabled the group to not only welcome four online participants, but to have the Bible study leader join remotely, as well as to have greetings from Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary. The conference also had representation from the BC Mission Boat Society, LAMP, LHM/LLL-Canada, and the Director of Advancement from Synod office.

The planning committee is extremely grateful for the support of synod and the synod family, and looks forward to the next conference in May 2023. If you are a non-pastoral church worker or volunteer and would be interested in learning more about the Sabbath Conference, please contact sabbathconference@gmail.com.
