Spring Guild Day at CLTS

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. – Over 80 devoted supporters of Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary (CLTS)’s  Guild, representing 22 congregations, gathered for the annual Spring Guild Day.

Those in attendance were invited to take part in a business meeting, discussing ongoing support for the seminary, and shared in a Matins worship service led by the students.

A highlight of the event was a presentation by Dr. Dan Smilek of Grace Lutheran Church in Kitchener, Ontario. Dr. Smilek offered an engaging talk on the significance of attention for the Christian, encouraging thoughtful reflection among participants.

Guests enjoyed lunch and had the opportunity to meet with seminary students—many of whom are supported by local congregations through the Guild’s adoption program.

The Seminary Guild plays a crucial role in supporting the CLTS community, providing practical assistance such as maintaining a food pantry and offering annual gifts to Master of Divinity (M.Div.) students as they prepare for the pastoral ministry. The Guild meets twice yearly at the Seminary to conduct business and worship together.

Looking ahead, the Guild invites all supporters to join them for Harvest Day on Saturday, October 18, 2025. The event promises to be a joyful gathering, with the choir from St. John’s Lutheran Church, Snyder, set to perform a special selection of musical pieces.

For more information about the Guild’s work or to learn more about attending Harvest Day, visit CLTS’ website here, email the Seminary Guild, or call the Seminary at (905) 688-2362 ext. 21.
