Summer Retreats for Our Youth
The Impact (West Region) Youth Gathering took place June 27-30, 2026 at Pines Bible Camp in Grand Forks, BC. Youth gathered around the theme verse, John 15:5: “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, He it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” There is more to come on that gathering. In the meantime, check out their social media and enjoy photos and videos of the event.
There are two young adult retreats coming up this August. From August 5-9, join young adults from across the country at the Lutheran Young Adults Camp hosted at Camp Lutherland. Dr. James Kellerman will be speaking on vocation. Register by August 1.
From August 21-23, EDLYA’s Summer Retreat will take place at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Ottawa, with Rev. Aaron Astley. Register here and stay tuned for more details that will be released this fall about the national young adults gathering being planned for June 2027.
Young Adults Gather for Winter EDLYA Retreat
WATERLOO, Ont. – Every year, EDLYA (East District Lutheran Young Adults) plans four retreats for young adults. This year’s winter retreat was held March 13-15 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Waterloo. The weekend was spent playing games, sharing meals, studying God’s Word, and worshipping together.
On Saturday morning, Vicar Joseph Behl led a Bible study and discussion on “The Sanctuary, Life’s Purpose, and the Mission of YHWH.”
This retreat featured the inaugural EDLYA UnCommon Cup Tournament, with attendees facing off in teams across four events: Bible Jeopardy, Minute to Win It, musical chairs, and dodgeball. It was a great opportunity to brush up on biblical knowledge, take part in fun challenges, and have some friendly, but fierce, competition.
Another highlight of the event was the make-your-own pie station. Participants made apple and blueberry pies to enjoy for dessert. Saturday evening included a time of worship, a hymn sing, and lots of board games.

The group is grateful for the congregation of Redeemer Lutheran Church for their warm welcome and for providing lunch after the Divine Service on Sunday afternoon.
This year, EDLYA is also pleased to welcome Rev. John Rapp as pastoral advisor.
The next EDLYA retreat was scheduled for May 29-31 at Christ our King Lutheran Church in Mississauga. Visit edlya.ca for details on future events.
