The joy of Bible class

WINDSOR, Ont. – Rev. Robert Bugbee and members of First Lutheran Church rejoice over the strong response to adult Bible classes in the fall of 2022, offered weekly between the two Sunday services in the church auditorium. “During the lockdown we went months without being able to offer this,” Rev. Bugbee explains, “but since we began anew in late 2021 we sensed the hunger among our members for regular study of God’s Word. So far this fall we’re averaging about 44 people in attendance at class.”

Rev. Bugbee credits the late Frank Johnson, longtime member at First and former chairman of Lutheran Church–Canada’s Board of Directors, for building a consistent program of adult study over many years. “I want to encourage pastors and congregations to make Bible study a priority in their own church families,” the pastor adds. “Christ can use this to help root our people more deeply at a time when biblical illiteracy has reached crisis proportions in our churches.”
