VBS Webinar

ONLINE – Does your church have a VBS and are you looking for new ideas or support? Did you have one in the past and would like a reboot? Have you never hosted a VBS but would like to start? Or are you just curious about what other parishes do for VBS?

Vacation Bible Schools provide an opportunity for congregations to support and equip the faith of their own member families, as well as provide an opportunity to reach out to their neighbours and invite them into the church.

Join VBS leaders from across LCC online on January 31 at 12 p.m. ET/9 a.m. PT to learn about different VBS models, ask questions, share, and network.

Four experienced VBS leaders will share about their experiences with different VBS styles, and there will be time for discussion, questions, and networking.

Dcn. Kathy Cornish, Director of Education and Youth at Riverbend Lutheran Church in Edmonton, will speak on VBS programming for the youth helpers.

Dcn. Amanda Hastings, Director of Parish Services at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Regina, will speak about the evening/supper model of VBS.

Roxanne Theroux, deacon-in-training and Family Ministry Coordinator at Bethel Lutheran Church in Sherwood Park, Alta., will speak on all-day VBS with an afternoon sports and creative option.

Dcn. Miriam Winstanley, Director of Parish Services at Foothills Lutheran Church in Calgary, will speak on the more traditional VBS classroom/rotation model.

The conversation will be facilitated by Dcn. Samantha Neeb, LCC’s new Associate Director – Family Ministries. The webinar is part of LCC’s ongoing effort to support youth and family ministry following the installation of Dcn. Neeb in August 2025. These efforts include a new Family Resources section on LCC’s website, as well as the creation of brand-new resources for use by families across the synod, and other upcoming events and initiatives.
